A first-ring suburb west of Minneapolis

St. Louis Park is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, immediately west of Minneapolis. It borders Edina, Golden Valley, Minnetonka, Plymouth and Hopkins, so many residents of those cities also look for a dentist here. The 2020 census counted 50,010 residents in a city of about 10.9 square miles. The name comes from the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railway, and the village was incorporated in 1886.

Growth took off after the Second World War. Between 1950 and 1956, 66 new subdivisions were recorded to make room for about 2,700 new homes, and shops and medical offices followed along Excelsior Boulevard. That pattern is still visible today: the dental offices cluster along a few corridors.

Where the dental offices are

You will find 13 dental offices in two ZIP codes. Eight are in 55416 on the east side, around Excelsior Boulevard, Wooddale Avenue and Minnetonka Boulevard. Five are in 55426 on the west side, along Highway 7, Texas Avenue, Republic Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue. Read the east side page or the west side page for the addresses and phone numbers in each, or open the directory to see all of them with maps.

How to choose close to home

The American Dental Association suggests asking whether the office is easy to get to from your home or job and whether the appointment schedule works for you, so start with distance. Pick two or three offices on your route, call each and ask about insurance, new patient openings, emergency arrangements and fees. If you want to compare how offices handle a first appointment, read your first dental visit before you call.

If you are not sure what kind of dentist you need, the choosing a dentist guide explains the difference between general, family and pediatric dentists and when a specialist is involved. You can check any dentist's license with the steps in checking a dentist's license.

Care for every stage

Whether you are booking a first visit for a toddler, a checkup for yourself or a repair for a broken tooth, the guides here cover the basics: find a dentist, your visits, treatment and cost, family and urgent care. Pick the one that fits and then call an office from the directory.
